SAMR is a model designed to help educators infuse technology into teaching and learning. Popularized by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, the model supports and enables teachers to design, develop, and infuse digital learning experiences that utilize technology.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is an educational framework based on research in the learning sciences, including cognitive neuroscience, that guides the development of flexible learning environments that can accommodate individual learning differences.

Assistive Technology (AT) is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or enhance the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities.

How do SAMR, UDL & AT come together?

  • SAMR relates to efficient & creative technology use in the classroom

  • UDL considerations are key to include ALL learners
    • how information is represented
    • how students demonstrate their knowledge
    • how students sustain engagement and motivation

  • Assistive Technology ensures a student with any disability can access any curriculum, including SAMR & UDL designed activities
