Communications Technology
Communications Technology 12 is an academic technology credit that involves using a hands-on, minds-on approach to electronic and web communication concepts. Students will be provided with hands-on activities at an intermediate to advanced level in a broad spectrum of technological concepts, both in traditional media and new media in the areas of digital photography, web publishing, video production, animation and broadcasting, with a focus on journalism and social media. By the end of the course students are able to use a range of technological tools, processes and applications, integrate communications technology with other academic disciplines, design and create communication materials that solve technological problems, and explain the consequences of technology and how it affects society.
It is the intention of this course to explore the elements of the following Modules as noted in the provincial curriculum:
Fundamentals of Communication Technology
Photography and Graphic Design
Web Publishing
Video Production and Broadcasting
Animation
Greater weight will be assigned to Photography and Video Production as the core content of this course.
