Dear Joe Howe and Oxford Families,
Updated * January 10th to 14th, 2022 Online Learning
Here we go again! I hope that all is well with you and yours as we navigate our way through these very difficult and stressful times. I have created this site in order to continue to support you and your child the best way I can. The ways in which I do this will shift as we learn new and meaningful ways to connect again in this virtual mode.
In the meantime, I invite any of you as parents and/or students to email me at this address with any questions, thoughts, or even just a “what’s up”. Whether or not your child currently has a signed consent to 'see me', I am available to all students at the school if you feel your child would benefit from some emotional support during this unusual and confusing time. Students may have other concerns unrelated to this pandemic that they wish to speak to a trusted adult about. Please know I am here to check in, offer resources or be a 'listening ear'. As I support Joe Howe and Oxford School, I will try my best to respond as soon as possible.
If your family needs or your child is seeking immediate support, the Kids Help Phone is available 24 hours a day/7 days per week by phone at 1-800-668 - 6868 (https://kidshelpphone.ca/).
At-Home Learning: Food Access http://ns.211.ca/
If families require access to food, Feed Nova Scotia and local support programs are ready to help. Families can call 211 weekdays between 8am and 8pm or 211 online and is available 24/7 to provide more information and connect people to the nearest option.
The Parker Street food bank located at 2415 Maynard Street is also open for support. Please call first to make an appointment. The phone number is (902) 425 - 2125
Please remember that it is of the utmost importance that we all take care of our mental health and well being during this pandemic. Please keep in mind that work being provided to your child is not intended to cause you or them anymore unneeded and unnecessary stress. We are encouraging you and your child to do what you can without causing more stress. If this is the case, please reach out with any concerns.
Do not hesitate to reach out. We're in this together!
Take care of each other and stay connected,
Mr. Moshett (AKA Mr. Mo)
School Counsellor Joe Howe/Oxford
