Here are some of the suggested low-tech/offline activities recommended on the home page for this site:

  • Ask your child to draw a picture or choose a picture from a family album then tell you about the image or write a description of their picture.

  • Ask your child to teach you or a sibling how to say some sentences in French that they have learned.

  • Have your child call a friend on the telephone. Ask your child to describe their activities of the day to their friend and suggest an activity that their friend can do to stay active in French.

  • Have your child write a postcard or greeting card to send to a friend. Your child may describe an activity that is being done at home, ask their friend questions about their activities and suggest ways that they can stay connected from home.

  • Reading - Look at some of the products in your kitchen. Are there recipes in French you can make?

  • Encourage your child to listen to the radio in French or watch a French TV program then make a list of the familiar French words they hear and/or write a short summary of what they viewed.

  • Using a book they read recently, have your child turn it into a simple comic strip in French

  • Have your child choose a topic and create a 1-minute monologue. If possible, they can record themself and choose 2 areas to work on.

  • Students may wish to keep a daily journal. They could write about , feelings, likes and dislikes, or simply write about the weather and other daily happenings.
