This Equity and Inclusion Toolbox is designed to provide valuable tools and strategies to support equitable and inclusive classrooms. Based on the principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS), and culturally responsive pedagogy, the toolbox supports the diverse needs of all learners, including marginalized groups and students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
The Items Description Section is divided into nine key categories: African Nova Scotians, English Language Learners, Mathematics, Medical Conditions, Treaty Education, 2SLGBTQ+, and Well-Being. This section also includes NSDEECD and UDL resources. Each category is intentionally organized to support teachers in adapting their instructional practices to reflect inclusivity, equity, and cultural responsiveness. The toolbox items emphasize differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and the integration of real-world contexts.
Designed to evolve with professional growth, this toolbox is a fluid resource that will expand as new resources are incorporated. It aligns with the overarching goal of inclusive education: ensuring that all students, regardless of ability or background, are empowered to succeed.
