Hello World! Have you seen micro:bit? The micro:bit was designed to be classroom-friendly from day one. More approachable than just coding, it's a great way to achieve fun, practical results with motivated students. Coding isn't just for Computing class! The micro:bit has projects that are great for Design Technology, Physics and even Art and Music classes. In this session we will build a coin flipper simulator, step counter and LED light switch! STEM ON!"

Let's Talk Science's ~ Living Space Action Project is designed to engage students (Grades 5 – 10) in hands on block based coding and a classroom-based scientific inquiry. Along with learning about the challenges of living in space, students learn to code micro:bits, create and code a device to monitor environmental data, and compare their classroom findings to those taken on the International Space Station! Students will be able to report and analyze their data, and then to share and compare to findings of classrooms across Canada. This project complements the Space Science unit in Grade 6 and Grade 9, and aligns with other Mathematics, Digital Literacy and Computational Thinking outcomes. Participants should already be enrolled in this action project before this session.
