Above: Small group reading and responding
Half scribblers are used to track small group instruction in reading or writing.
Reading: Students write a response to a comprehension card OR teacher-created questions.
The teacher writes comments to the student once the skill or text is completed
Writing: The half-scribbler is just a record of the meeting.
The student work and teacher feedback are recorded elsewhere.
This slideshow contains guiding principles and strategies to support writing instruction across all subject areas and grade levels.
