Reading and writing lessons need to be planned in response to the students we have in front of us each day. Students need explicit instruction of reading and writing strategies and the opportunity to practice these strategies every day in purposeful and meaningful ways.

Half scribblers are a valuable instructional tool. They provide us with ongoing assessments of our students which helps guide our planning and instruction.
