When is this course taught? In AP English Literature and Composition 12, lessons are provided twice weekly in an asynchronous format from September to May. Throughout the school year, students are required to participate in mandatory, student-led virtual meetings to discuss their progress. Additionally, students may email to book 'office hours' at any time to supplement their feedback on assessments or to receive extra guidance on course concepts.
Suggested Prerequisites: Students are expected to complete English 10 and either English 11 Academic or English 11 Advanced before the fall start of the course. While not mandatory, it is strongly recommended that students earn a grade of 90% or higher in these prerequisite courses to ensure they are prepared for the academic rigor ahead. Students must be ready to independently engage in an extensive amount of reading inside and outside of regular class time, which includes completing summer reading before the course begins in the fall.
Course Activities: Throughout the school year, students are required to participate in mandatory, student-led virtual meetings, participate in 'class discussions' with their peers on Google Classroom, and complete supervised testing at their school site related to tests and exams. Additionally, daily lessons, activities, and coursework are conducted through both Google Classroom and the official AP Classroom website.
Need to Know: Due to the virtual nature of this course, a strict Academic Integrity Policy is enforced; any form of plagiarism or unauthorized use of AI to generate, alter, or rewrite coursework is strictly prohibited. Enrolled students must be fully prepared to commit to the academic honesty standards outlined in the syllabus. Enrolled students receive a detailed breakdown of the course syllabus and reading list in the summer before the fall start. Please contact if you have any questions.
