Available Grants & Funds
With a single application you are applying for both Canada and Nova Scotia student loans (NS portion is currently forgiven upon graduation), as well as any available grants (non-repayable).

Documentation to apply as a student with a permanent disability
A bank account in your own name, have your account information (transit #, account #)
Information about any investments/RESPs in your name
Your and your parent's/step-parent's/spouse's Income Tax Return information from last year
Information about your school program, including how many class hours/credits you'll be taking
Scholarship information/amounts, if you know them
An estimate of your expected pre-study period and study-period earnings
Non-repayable federal grants are available for students with permanent disabilities. Federal government grants of up to $4,000/year to help pay for post-secondary education (tuition, books, rent). If you include verification of permanent disability when applying for a student loan, you are automatically assessed for this grant.
Non-repayable federal grants are available for education related services or equipment for students with permanent disabilities each year of post-secondary study. Students may be eligible for non-repayable assistance of up to $20,000/year for educational related services and/or equipment. This grant requires a separate application on My Path and is supported by Student Services at your school.

Learning Strategist
Text to speech or voice dictation software
Technical aids
Assistive Technology (computer, software…)

Reimbursement for psycho-educational assessments (to a maximum amount)

Supplemental Loan for Medicine, Law and Dentistry may be eligible for up to $140/week of additional loan funding

For 2021-2022, students who are eligible for this Grant will receive double the Canada Study Grant amount they would otherwise receive
Students with Permanent Disabilities up to $2,000/year
For 2021-2022, students with higher financial need may be eligible for up to $4,000/year
