Who would benefit from using a C-Pen?
Students with reading challenges, whether it is decoding or comprehension, benefit from using a C-Pen. This device is a great on-the-go option for reading short pieces of text, when a digital copy is not available or convenient. They are great for reading text/instructions on a math test, short answer questions, or multiple-choice activities.

If you are in a middle or high school, there probably are some C-Pens already in your building! Ask you administrator. If you are still in need of a device, contact Jessica Boudreau at boudreauj@cbvrce.ca to look into trialling a C-Pen with your students.

- Students can access all areas of the curriculum
- Helps with math word and story problems
- Improves independence and confidence attached to reading
- 1:1 inclusive adaptation reduces the reliance on human readers
- Enables students to access grade relevant content
- Can be used discretely in the classroom
- There is some research that indicates that levels of comprehension can change when reading print on a page versus print on a screen (Wolf, 2018)
