Parent Teacher Association

Home and School connections are important for children's success in school.  Aldershot Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is the organized home connection for our school

PTA meetings are an excellent forum for discussion about topics relevant to our school.  We also have opportunities during our meetings for you to voice your questions or concerns.  Everyone's voice matters.  Our meetings are held monthly at the school starting at 7:00 pm.  Check your school calendar and newsletter for PTA highlights.  Free babysitting is provided.

The PTA organizes family events and dances throughout the year, including the December shopping room and end of the year Spring Fling. We sell tickets on different baskets, do catalogue fundraisers or sell various products throughout the year. The money we raise helps provide financial assistance for teaching aids and educational projects that are not provided by the school board. Some of the bigger items we have helped purchase in the past for our school includes smart boards, learning centres, BBQ's, a large rug for the Library, and a piano for the music room. We also help with the skating program and provide funds for the end of the year class trips to help keep costs low so they are affordable for all families. We also participate in and provide gifts and treats for teachers and staff during Staff Appreciation week every year.

We also arrange for guest speakers to come to meetings to discuss topics like bullying or homework or any other issues that parents are concerned about.

For us to be able to continue to help with these programs and to raise the much needed funds for this school we need more volunteers. Every year it gets more difficult to find volunteers for these events. We understand that not all parents are able to join PTA or can attend our regular meetings due to busy schedules and shift work. If you are not able to join PTA, but still would like to help during the year we often need to call upon volunteers to help sell tickets, work the canteen, barbecuing, and the front door at these family events. If we are not able to get enough volunteers we may have to cancel these family events. Many children look forward to these events and it a great way for parents to meet their children’s friends and other parents. Usually we only need volunteers to help for 30 minutes depending on how many we have. The more volunteers we have to call upon the better.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped out last year to make these fundraisers a success and would like to welcome all the new families this year.
