The Cambridge Program

OVERVIEW

The Cambridge program at Westwood Middle School offers Florida BEST Standards with added rigor. Our goal is to increase students' ability and interest in being independent life-long learners. The students engage in collaborative learning that promotes critical thinking and integrates technology. They learn to communicate their ideas confidently through written and oral expression as they find solutions to problems and examine texts of history and literature.

Students who successfully engage in the Cambridge program at Westwood have been equally successful in pursuing advanced high school courses such as Honors or Advanced Placement courses, and advanced high school diplomas such as the Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma or the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.

The 2023-24 Cambridge Application will open on January 16, 2024 and close on February 13, 2024

Please contact The Assistant Principal for Curriculum, Lisa McLeod, at Westwood to find out if your transfer student will qualify for the Cambridge program in the fall.  

Westwood Middle School is temporarily located at 1262 NW 31st Drive, in Gainesville, Florida. We are located adjacent to our permanent campus currently under complete reconstruction, and our new campus will open in the 2024-2025 school year.

Due to the expected move to our new school facilities in the fall, we will not be offering shadowing for current 5th graders for our Cambridge program.  We will, however, offer a preview presentation from our architects at our Open House that will be held on February 6, 2024 at 6:00pm in our cafeteria.
