Mrs. McNickle's Gifted Math

Student Files

Each night's homework, as well as all graded work, is put into each student's file. Students are responsible for checking their files every day before they leave class. Students should not request to re-enter the classroom after school is over.

19-20 Class Schedule

Classes may come at a slightly different time on Wednesdays, but the order of classes is the same. On days of Flag Ceremonies or field trips, students may not attend math class, depending on their scheduled math time.

Turn-In Bins

All work, including homework, is turned into the turn-in bins.

Grading Policies

  • Late homework will be accepted up to one day late, and will be given a grade of 50%. Homework is a daily expectation.

  • Zeros are only put into the gradebook if that assignment is missing AND the student has had the opportunity to do the assignment. For example, sometimes unfinished classwork is sent home to be completed. If that work is never turned back in, there will be a zero in the gradebook. Another example: when students do not turn in their homework the day it is due, it will be entered as a zero (unless the student was absent the day the work was due).

  • Students are reminded verbally multiple times to turn in their homework and to take that night's homework with them. Frequently, homework is checked during the class period, and students who haven't turned in the homework are asked individually to turn it in.

  • Students missing school are able to make up work. Grades of zero are not entered for work missing due to absence or other circumstances. Any work that is not expected to be done (student had a prolonged absence, there was a Flag Ceremony or field trip for certain students that day, students were working more intensively with me, etc.) will be excused, and will not count toward the student's score.

  • Grades that are not entered do not count as "zero." They do not count toward the student's grade.
