As an 8th grader, Talar Terzian was named one of just thirty finalists nationwide in the prestigious Broadcom MASTERS Science and Engineering Competition in 2014. Selected amongst a pool of more than 2000 applicants, Talar was awarded an all-expenses paid to the Washington D.C. to present her science fair project to a panel of distinguished scientists. Talar had designed a manual device that could be used to clean clothes and other items without electricity. Not only did Talar meet President Obama, but NASA scientists were there and allowed each national finalist to name two recently discovered planets. “If you’re doing something important, you want the world to know about it,” she said.
