8th Grade Advanced math
In 2003, Howard Bishop became the first middle school to offer High School Geometry. For a number of years we were the only middle school in Alachua County to offer Geometry. Currently, with one exception, all of the county high schools follow this progression: Algebra I; Geometry; Algebra II.
Bishop students have an opportunity to earn up to 2 High School Math Credits on our campus by the time they finish 8th Grade! It is worth noting that our 7th and 8th Grade Academy math teachers have a secondary (grades 9 - 12) math endorsement on their teaching certificate.
