Reading Programs

Do you like reading? Do you like awesome prizes? Participate in our reading incentive programs throughout the year to build your reading skills and walk away with some sweet swag!

Show the state of Wisconsin who has the best readers! Participants read 20 predetermined books over the course of 3 months and take a state-wide test at the end to determine the winner. Questions include trivia, plot, characters, authors names and more. Only the strong will survive!

Open to grades 4 and up.

AR is a self paced reading program where you can earn points and tickets to buy fun prizes at the library store! All you need to do is read a book and pass a 10 question trivia quiz. You must pass with at least 8/10. Tickets are compiled once per week and can be spent right away or saved up to buy bigger prizes! Once a student reaches 200 points, they will receive an official GLSD Accelerated Reader medal!

Open to grades 2 and up.

Read to Succeed is a free program sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks. Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before the school's deadline is eligible for a free admission ticket, valid at the participating Six Flags Theme Park that the school has selected.

Open to grades K-6

Together with A&W we are encouraging students to read for fun and enjoyment. Students wishing to participate will be able to earn any A&W Regular Kids Meal by reading the required amount of minutes each month. Each child in grades Pre-K through 6 will receive a calendar to record their reading times and the calendar must be returned to the library by the 3rd of each month. This reading must be for enjoyment and can not be reading that is assigned for class.

Open to grades 4K-6

Stop in the LMC during Banned Books Week and have your "mugshot" taken with your favorite banned book! One winner will be chosen at random to win a free banned book of their choice. Many other activities take place during this fun week to celebrate our right to read!

Open to all students and staff.
