Dear Students and Parents,
Greetings! It is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year. We hope that this message finds you safe, healthy, and happy and that the holiday allowed you to have quality time with those closest to you. For the first time since 2019, we are able to begin the school year with all students and staff on campus! We look forward to seeing all of our students, new and returning, on Monday, 1 August. As for the logistics of the first day of school, please see below:
The school day will begin with an extended Advisory period. Please arrive early enough on Monday to show your negative antigen test result and make it to Advisory on time. The West gate will open at 07:00.
Students will receive a brief introductory email from their Advisor next week, including Advisory class location and a general idea of what to expect from the first day.
After Advisory, all students and staff will meet in the theater for a brief welcome back assembly.
After the assembly, you will have a break until 09:45, at which time you will proceed to your Period 1 class.
Students will attend all Monday classes (Periods 1-6) on an altered bell schedule.
Your teachers will likely begin contacting you next week via your school-issued Google account.
If you are having trouble accessing your school Google account (@student.globaljaya.com), please contact Pak Zul (zulkahfi@globaljaya.com).
We look forward to welcoming you all to campus on Monday, 1 August! In the meantime, be safe, be happy, and be well.
Secondary School Leadership
With the beginning of the school year almost upon us, plans are underway to support the transition of families who are new to Global Jaya, into our community. We have created an induction schedule for both students and parents alike, with each schedule specifically tailored to meet the needs of the audience. This development reflects our continued commitment to working alongside parents in support of their child’s education.
As you can see, from the Secondary schedule below, our new family induction event will cover social introductions, community building, information sharing as well as providing practical support to ensure that the start of the new school year is a smooth one.
We look forward to welcoming all new Secondary students and their parents onto campus for this event. For parents who wish to participate but who are unable to join us on campus, we have provided a zoom link for the parent sessions. The Zoom link for the parent workshops can be found in the final arrangements letter, along with the QR code for pre-ordering lunch.
In the meantime, please contact the Dean of Students, Ms. Vicki (vicki@globaljaya.com) with any questions or suggestions that you might have, regarding our new family induction event.
I’m sure you will join us in wishing all of our new community members a very warm welcome into our Global Jaya Community.

During the first few weeks of this school year, your child will complete an online iReady diagnostic evaluation for Reading and Mathematics.
These assessments are not used for report grades but instead to help teachers better identify areas of strengths and weaknesses of their students. This data allows them to tailor instruction, materials, activities and groupings to provide each student with opportunities to improve, develop or extend their knowledge. The iReady is one of many tools used to understand each student’s performance abilities and does not, on its own, determine placement or progress. The information gathered from these diagnostic tests will be tracked throughout the year with repeat testing at the end of semesters 1 and 2. This will enable us to view every student's growth and development whilst taking any action to assist those who may be struggling. These diagnostic tests are used globally by many international and host nation schools and will be able to give teachers an understanding of where your child stands in regards to the ability for their age level.
Individual teachers will be in contact in regards to how the diagnostic is taken, but I do ask that you support us in ensuring that your child attempts and conducts themselves in their best possible manner. The more accurate the result, the better we can plan personalised learning for your child. If you have further questions or would like more information, please discuss with your child’s Maths and/or English teachers or programme coordinators. Alternatively, if they are not able to assist you, please do not hesitate to email me @ jamesm@globaljaya.com
