Welcome Back!

Dearest Students, Parents, and the Global Jaya Community,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year at Global Jaya School. We hope this message finds you safe, healthy, and happy. We hope you had the opportunity to relax and bond with family and friends over the summer break.

The past two years have been a challenging time for all our students, teachers, parents and the community. While keeping in mind the health and safety of our community, last year we moved through various models of learning to deliver quality education. We are extremely happy to share that we will be welcoming students face to face this current academic school year. Our teachers are excited and look forward on engaging, connecting, forming relationships, growing and learning together with your children.

We are also looking forward to welcoming new and returning parents back on campus. Please take a moment to review:

• The New Parents Induction Schedule on Thursday, July 28.

• Year Level Parent-Teacher Meeting (to be held face to face at school) on Friday, July 29.

Staff and teachers will be on supervision and ready to receive and greet students from 7:15 am onwards everyday. Please note that all students will need proof of a negative Antigen test result on their first day of school. If your children are unwell or have flu-like symptoms, please do not send them to school.

We are looking forward to starting the new school year; welcoming our new and returning families! Please stay safe and healthy.

New Parent Induction Day

Year Level Parents Teachers Meetings

Parents, both new and returning, are invited to joining our year level teaching teams as they introduce themselves and share their preparations for the coming academic year.

• Reception at 08.00-09.00 am - Primary MPR, Primary Building Level 3

• Year 1 at 08.00-09.00 am - Canteen

• Year 2 at 08.00-09.00 am - Multi-Purpose Hall, Admin Building Level 2

• Year 3 at 09.00-10.00 am - Canteen

• Year 4 at 09.00-10.00 am - Year 4 Shared Area

Health and Safety Reminder

• Please follow all our Covid-19 health protocols: always wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, practice good hygiene, and maintain social distancing.

• Please don't send your child to school if they are unwell or have flu-like symptoms.

• If a ​student, faculty, or staff member​ tests positive for COVID19, please immediately contact the COVID HOTLINE at covidhotline@globaljaya.com to alert the school of a positive diagnosis so that contact tracing may begin and so the school can consult the authority to get further guidelines.

iReady Testing for Reading and Mathematics

During the first few weeks of this school year, your child will complete an online iReady diagnostic evaluation for Reading and Mathematics.

These assessments are not used for report grades but instead to help teachers better identify areas of strengths and weaknesses of their students. This data allows them to tailor instruction, materials, activities and groupings to provide each student with opportunities to improve, develop or extend their knowledge. The iReady is one of many tools used to understand each student’s performance abilities and does not, on its own, determine placement or progress. The information gathered from these diagnostic tests will be tracked throughout the year with repeat testing at the end of semesters 1 and 2. This will enable us to view every student's growth and development whilst taking any action to assist those who may be struggling. These diagnostic tests are used globally by many international and host nation schools and will be able to give teachers an understanding of where your child stands in regards to the ability for their age level.

Individual teachers will be in contact in regards to how the diagnostic is taken, but I do ask that you support us in ensuring that your child attempts and conducts themselves in their best possible manner. The more accurate the result, the better we can plan personalised learning for your child. If you have further questions or would like more information, please discuss with your child’s Maths and/or English teachers or programme coordinators.
