Dear GJS New and Returning Families,
On behalf of our GJS Faculty and Staff, I like to extend a very warm welcome to all our new and returning students and their families. It is my pleasure to formally welcome you to Kontak, our monthly newsletter, to welcome you to our community, and to wish your families a wonderful school experience through the 2022-2023 school year.
During our induction program, we have welcomed five new faculty, and one new/returning staff onto our GJS team. Our newest team members originate from Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States of America. These faculty members bring with them professional expertise, experience and unique talents that will contribute positively to our evolving educational community. They each have welcoming messages to share on the New GJS Faculty Bios page. Please take a moment to meet our newest community members.
In addition to welcoming our new faculty and staff members for the 2022-2023 school year, at the writing of this message, we have enrolled a total of 99 new students, representing 90 new families for the upcoming academic year who will be joining the GJS community. Our admissions and enrollment process remains open and ongoing as continue to process student applications and admissions for the 2022-2023 school year.
Next week we will be holding new student induction programs, followed closely by new parent orientation sessions at both the primary and secondary levels. These critical events support our newest members by introducing our administrative and curricular leaders, providing insight into our educational practices, as well as clarifying our day-to-day procedures here at Global Jaya School. All parents are asked to review the Primary and Secondary Kontak Pages for full details on dates and times and access information to our upcoming induction events as well as information on the August 1 start of school the following week.
In preparation for the arrival of students on Monday, August 1, two important understandings must be shared:
1) The Canteen, operated by Brandina Catering, will be in operation next week, serving faculty, staff and any students and parents who will be on campus partaking in next week's orientation meetings and activities. Orders to be accepted up to Saturday, July 23. Please click HERE to see next week's menu and ordering instructions.
For the week of August 1 - 5, lunch orders will be collected starting on Wednesday, July 27. Please click HERE on or after July 27 to make your first-week lunch orders.
2) Rapid Antigen Testing will be conducted prior to the first day of classes for all faculty and staff. ALL students will be required to arrive on Monday, August 1, 2022, with their negative antigen test taken no more than 2 x 24 before their arrival on campus. This is planned as a one-off after our long vacation. We will only return to regularly scheduled Rapid Antigen Testing if PPKM levels return to Level 2 or above. We ask that all community members stay attentive to the development of any cold or flu-like symptoms by members of their household. Should symptoms develop, we encourage immediate antigen testing and an RT-PCR test following a positive result. In the case of a positive RT-PCR result, please communicate this outcome with us via covidhotline@globaljaya.com.
Finally, please find our previously published 2022-2023 Academic Calendar available for viewing below or for download through this LINK.
Words simply cannot describe how excited we are to begin our 2022-2023 school year, on campus, with all programmes running at full speed, while personally reconnecting with all new and returning community members, together collaborating to ensure a great start to this school year!
