We had the privilege of welcoming a guest speaker from WWF Singapore on Plastic and Wastes. It was an eye-opening session as we realised that we are breathing and eating 5 grams of plastic on a weekly basis and that we all need to re-think how we are using plastics and disposing of them.
Here are a few take aways by our students.

We had spent almost two hours (we honestly lost track of time), learning about vermicomposting, its global impact and how to care for our new pets, the wormies. Teachers at GIIS attended the hands-on vermicomposting workshop organized by WWF. There are so many opportunities to make cross-curricular connections and build valuable skills throughout the year with the worm farm. It opens up further discussions about our roles and responsibilities when it comes to climate change. We're planning to compost our food wastage of school and see how long it'll take the wormies to break it down. We also plan to collect worm casings to learn more about the life cycle of our wormies and estimate how many worms come out of each casing. The possibilities are endless!
