✨ Earth Day 2025 – GIIS EC Primary Celebrates “Our Power, Our Planet”! ✨🌱
At GIIS East Coast Campus, nurturing young minds goes together with caring for our planet. This Earth Day, our students, teachers, and staff came together in the true spirit of sustainability and environmental stewardship.
One of the most memorable highlights was a special tree plantation activity, where saplings were planted in a unique ‘G’ formation—a powerful symbol of "GIIS Glows Green." This meaningful gesture reflected our unwavering commitment to growing green minds where bright futures take root. 🌱💚
Our Primary students celebrated with great enthusiasm!
📚 The assembly featured the inspiring story The Hugging Tree, a touching tale of resilience, kindness, and hope, reminding us of the strength we find in nature and each other. Our GMP eco-warriors amazed everyone with recycled crafts, joyful seed sowing, and colourful Earth-themed face mask painting. PYP 1 to 5 students took direct action by planting seeds, exploring biodiversity, reflecting on sustainable habits, and making thoughtful Earth Day pledges to protect and preserve our planet. Meanwhile, our CBSE students also embraced the Earth Day spirit by learning about the importance of preserving our planet. They collaborated on a group project, shared powerful Go-Green messages, and collectively took a pledge to do their part in protecting the environment.
The day was filled with joyful learning, creativity, reflection, and hands-on action—a beautiful reminder that even the youngest hands can make a big difference for our planet.
Let us continue to glow green—today and every day! 💚🌱
April 22, 2024
Earth Day began as a movement for environment consciousness and putting environmental concerns on the forefront by UNESCO in 1970’s.
Today Earth Day is marked as a day of action at global, national, and local levels and to remind and reconfirm our commitment to protect planet Earth.
GIIS East coast also joined in this green movement by doing their bit through a myriad of activities for Earth Day on 22 April 2024 at every grade level.
The day started with a morning assembly in which grade 10 incorporated the theme of Earth Day in their class assembly with a small presentation to spread awareness about Earth Day, the theme of this year being Planet against Plastic.
The Primary students went around our very own green campus admiring and exploring the uniqueness of their environment. They observed the nuances of nature like various types of leaves, and visited the herbal garden to learn about the bountiful nature. The PYP section of the school has been planning a garden in their precincts; they ran a collection drive to collect used plastics and empty cans as planters and fences.
Students of grade three made a Thank you card made from a booklet supplied by the Singapore kindness movement.
At middle school, Grade 6 wrote Pledges about how they would like to contribute their bit for preserving the resources found in nature. Banners and posters to promote awareness of Earth Day material were also created.
Secondary section used their research skills to gather more information about Resource conservation as well as topics like deforestation.
The East coast green campus is the proud owner of an Organic garden, which is well tended to by the students of the Green team.
Earth Day 2024 will be celebrated in GIIS EC on the 19th and 22nd of April 2024. However, GMP and PYP students have begun collecting bottles and cans for their upcoming activity from April 11, 2024.
Happy Earth Day 2023! Our little earthlings at GIIS east coast Campus, Singapore participated in various activities like nature walk in the school garden and colouring activities to express their support to make Planet Earth a cleaner and healthier place to live in as well as to understand the importance of saving it for future generations!
