The Glenwood band program offers two concert ensembles.  

Glenwood Black: The Glenwood “Black” concert band is a non-auditioned mixed concert band required for all freshman band members but open to any high school students with a middle school instrumental music background. The “Black” band was established to ensure that a fair and equal learning opportunity was available for all students interested in band. 

Glenwood Gold: The Glenwood “Gold” concert band is an auditioned Wind Ensemble that is required for all senior band members.  This ensemble has a pre-determined number of students and those seats will be filled first with seniors and lastly through audition.  Freshman will only be allowed to be a part of this ensemble if there is an instrument need and approved by the director.  

The "Pride of Glenwood" Marching Rams perform at all home football games and participate in their own competition season. Marching band members have the opportunity to participate in the Southwest Iowa Honor Marching Band where they have performed at the Fiesta, Chick-Fil-A, Outback and Holiday Bowls. 

The color-guard is an auditioned group of students which make up the primarily perform with the marching band.  The guard will perform at every marching performance and all home football games.  The guard season concludes with an indoor "Winter Guard" performance at the ISDTA State Dance/Guard competition in December.

The award winning jazz band program features a varsity "Gold" and JV "Black" ensemble.  The Jazz Bands competes in 4-5 competitions and participates in several concerts during the year.  Auditions for this group are held at any time there are positions open in the jazz band.  Jazz “Gold” is under the direction of Dan Schoening and Jazz Black is under the direction of David Clark.

The Ram Jam Pep Band is the featue entertainment at all home basketball events.  All members of the concert band are also members of the pep band.  

The Glenwood Community band is under the direction of retired band director Pete Jacobus.  The band is made up of musicians of all levels from all over Southwest Iowa.  The commmunity band performs 3 concerts each year and rehearsals on Sundays from 4-6pm.  If you are interested in being a part of the community band contact Mr. Jacobus at 712-520-1999.
