Jazz Bands

High School Jazz Band

An audition based instrumental group for advanced students from grades 9-12 to perform technically and musically challenging repertoire and develop their knowledge and skills at a high level. Students will gather together once a week after school hours (typically Thursday 3-4:30) to perform and practice skills in the jazz style. Auditions are held in October or November depending on the conclusion date of Marching Band. The Jazz Band typically performs during the Glen Rock Spring Concert, the Bergen Community College Teen Arts Festival, in addition to having the opportunity to participate in the WorldStrides Heritage Festivals with the GRHS Choirs. Over the past 2 years, the GRHS Jazz Band has won the Gold and Silver medals in WorldStrides Heritage Festivals.
