Compositional Rules in Photography

This unit covers rules of composition in photography, elements of art, principles of design, point of view like worm's eye and bird's eye, and how they combine to tell a story through sequencing. 

Portraiture & Landscape

Portraiture & Landscape

This unit is all about manipulating the aperture setting on the camera to understand manual functions and control depth of field. Portraits will include candid and posed portraiture, as well as self portraiture. Landscapes will cover places in the outdoors as a photodocumentary project. 

Long Exposure

Long Exposure: Motion Blur & Light Painting

This unit focuses on manipulation of the shutter speed to create long exposure images that tell a story visually. Students will study professional artist examples and create visual images by painting with light. 

Color Theory

Color in Photography

This unit delves deeper into color theory as students make more conscious choices about lighting, focal point, and what they include in the image. Students will look at historical and contemporary works that showcase color to convey meaning and create their own projects using lighting, editing, and more.

Portfolio

Portfolio

Students will develop an online portfolio of their best images from each project. This will utilize a google site to showcase their artwork from photo 1.
