Course Overview:

This is a rigorous, college-level course. Students will work independently throughout the school year to create coherent, engaging, original portfolios that show risk-taking and personal growth. The ultimate goal of this course is to take the College Board A.P. exam. Both in-class and personal time must be allotted to be successful in this course and to achieve high marks. College credit may be received upon completion of the College Board exam (this is score-based and dependent on the individual college). It is highly suggested that each student have access to the use of a personal cell phone and digital S.L.R. camera.

Expectations:

This course is a rigorous college level studio course. Students will submit to the AP College Board exam for 2D studio art. This exam will consist of submitting a finished portfolio of works that fall into two categories. Students will document the process, completion, and reflection of their works throughout the course. Students will submit 15 final images for the sustained investigation portion of the exam. Students will submit a selection of 5 selected works that showcase their best quality images that show advanced use of technique and elements/principles of art. Students will have the opportunity to select their concepts, photography technique (film or digital) and create works inspired by professional artists and personal interests.
