  • June 11, 2019 Projected Last Day of School, Dismissal Time:

Home-to-School Connection

  • PLEASE let me know if your child will be missing the last day of school or any other days prior to the last day. Time is precious and I want to make sure no one misses anything.
  • To keep the last day from being chaotic, students will slowly be bringing home items from their desks a little bit at a time.
  • Summer Vacation is a long time to be away from school. Help your child be ready for their new school year by doing a little daily practice of reading and basic math facts. Be on the lookout from the English/Language Arts and Math Departments. They have recommendations and links that can keep your child engaged and polished in their learning.
  • I also encourage students to participate in the Welles Turner Summer Reading Challenge. Your child will be coming home with their packets.

Classroom Update

Reading and Writing

Students have been LOVING our Reading and Writing units! Our last unit, Traditional Literature, has included Myths, Fables, Folktales, and Fairy Tales in Reading. We've tied in traditional literature from Spain and China. Did you know there are MANY versions of Cinderella across the world? We have been using Venn Diagrams to compare and contrast the European and Chinese Cinderella stories.

We're in the last bend of writing, in which students are creating their vary own Fairy Tale!
