Sonday
For grades 1-8
Sonday is a multisensory reading intervention. That means that students will strengthen their reading skills through activating multiple senses. Lessons instruct students to see, hear, and feel information simultaneously. Tracing and touch spelling are two multisensory strategies that are the trademark of this intervention. When reading difficult words, students trace the letters while saying the letter sounds, then blend the sounds together to read the word. Touch Spelling addresses spelling errors. Students touch spell in order to identify the individual sounds that make up a word. When multisensory strategies are used, information is learned faster and is retained better. Reading, phonemic awareness, spelling, fluency, and comprehension are targeted in this intervention.

Lexia Core 5 and Power Up
Web based intervention for grades K-12
Lesson length depends on Lexia's time recommendation based on an initial student placement test.
The Core 5 program is for K-5th grade and works on phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, grammar, and comprehension.
PowerUp is for 6th-12th grade students and the program has word study, grammar, and comprehension categories. Phonics and fluency are incorporated into the lessons. Students should spend at least 30 minutes in each category weekly to experience the greatest reading growth.
While Lexia is an online intervention, both programs have one on one skill builder activities that the teacher completes with students to reinforce learning in the program. The teacher does not wait for the student to struggle before conducting the activities with students, but instead works to deepen learning right from the start. When students do struggle with a concept, the teacher is alerted and additional activities are provided to clear up confusion and support students in a timely manner.
