Link to the K-5th grade program. Students in grades K-5 have a different Amplify experience than 6th-8th grade students. This site will help you understand the different components of the reading program. For example, you will learn that K-2 students participate in 60 minutes of foundational skill instruction daily. It's during this time that students develop the skills necessary in learning to read. They specifically learn letter sound patterns that will help them decode and spell words as well as work on reading fluency, learn sight words and spelling rules. Students then participate in 60 minutes of instruction that helps build background knowledge to support reading comprehension. Amplify is a multisensory program that meets the needs of all learners including those who are dyslexic.
Link to the 6th-8th grade program. This site is geared specifically to helping families understand how they can support their middle school child's reading growth. You will find overviews of each unit as well as practical tips about reading that you can implement at home. As our children get older, it can be easy to think that they no longer need reading support at home since they move out of the stage of learning to read and now are reading to learn. If you have a child in 6th-8th grade, this site is a must see.
