Advisement
Our Advisement class provides an opportunity to connect with students once a week to check in on student wellbeing, discuss upcoming school events, review grades and behavior, and appropriately plan for the future. We've discussed entrepreneurship and analyzed the paths of several young entrepreneurs while creating our own businesses. We've read about a popular class at Yale that teaches people the science behind how to be happy. We've developed and implemented Student Success Contracts to identify habits and behaviors that we can improve to become more successful.
Students also explore different career opportunities by completing activities and modules on the SmartFutures platform. Our students are building career and work profiles including artifacts like resumes, cover letters, writing samples, interest inventories, and more.
"Psychology and the Good Life"
The most popular class in the history of Yale is now available online.
The class, Psyc 157, “Psychology and the Good Life,” is taught by psychology professor Laurie Santos. Nearly a quarter of all Yale undergraduates have enrolled in the class in its inaugural year — a fact that attracted media attention around the globe.
The online course, titled “The Science of Well Being,” features lectures by Santos on things people think will make them happy but don’t — and, more importantly, things that do bring lasting life satisfaction. Registration is now open.
