Greater Johnstown Athletic Department Coaches Certification Manual
The Greater Johnstown School District believes our coaches and advisors serve as community leaders. The Greater Johnstown School District, our coaches and advisors strive to put the students' safety first. Our coaches and advisors complete trainings on an annual basis in recognizing symptoms of concussions and sudden cardiac arrest. Furthermore all of our coaches and advisors must be certified in CPR, Recognizing Child Abuse, Reporting Child Abuse, Coaching Principle Courses, First Aid, Health, and Safety.
Finally, all coaches and advisors within the GJSD, need to complete the following to maintain employment or volunteer status within the Athletic Department:
Creating a Coaching Profile on PIAA Website (All Coaches & Advisors)
Successfully complete a Concussion Training Annually
Successfully complete a Cardiac Arrest Training Annually
An Active CPR Certification
Act 126 Reporting Child Abuse Certification
Complete the PIAA Coaching Courses (only if a coach or adviser is a PIAA affiliated sport or program)
