ABOUT ME
This is my 19th year teaching and my 4th year at Ascent, and I’m really happy to be here teaching upper school literature and art again. I am eager to jump into American Literature, Logic, and Ceramics this year and equally excited to collaborate on making this year's yearbook our absolute best one yet! I'm also looking forward to leading River House in taking the Ascension Cup and the all-new House Cup. Go Pegasi!
I grew up in Colorado, just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park, so I’m a Colorado native, but I spent a few years in Arizona where I discovered that I am not built to tolerate that kind of heat, which is why I now live in Grand Junction, surprisingly a happy medium. I’m married, and my husband and I have a dog named Wallace, a 65 pound Australian Shepherd who thinks he is a lap dog and lives for going on walks.
I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you this year. My goal is for our classroom to be a place where you feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, trying new things, and maybe having a little fun along the way.
I’m excited to see what this year brings, and I hope you’re ready for a great year. Let’s make it a good one!
GET TO KNOW ME
There are far to many great books out there for me to pick just one to be a favorite. I love so many. Some that would make that list are The House at Pooh Corner and Winnie the Pooh, Roland the Minstrel Pig, and Klippity Klop. Also on my list are Animal Farm, Anne of Green Gables, The Great Gatsby, Call of the Wild, and Hamlet. All are nostalgic and beautiful texts for me.
I also struggle to pick just one subject as my favorite. I love art and literature, and I also really enjoy logic and the critical thinking that requires. I really just love to learn.
What I love most about Ascent is the curriculum. We create opportunities to experience, learn from, and appreciate the beautiful things that we study.
For fun I love to create. I paint, knit, sew, cook and bake, really anything that allows me to tap into my creativity and use my hands. I also love to garden and spend time outside with my husband and my dog. I'm also always down for a good board game.
