I have chosen to embed a link to Kiwi Kids News website to encourage our tamariki to stay up to date with local, national and international news and current affairs. The news stories on this site are all carefully chosen and filtered to ensure the content is appropriate for all children to read.

The necessity for this is even more important given the current directive from our Government to actively engage and maintain 'social distancing'.

I call most newspapers a library of 'short stories' on tap! Most news agents provide a steady stream of interesting but real stories that will provide most of our tamariki with information that can inform their learning.

Whanau - encouraging our tamariki to read the information shared by the media encourages them to engage in text. Let's use this time wisely to advance their literacy skills.
