PROJECTS and ACTIVITIES 2025/26:
Girotondo Italian School offered 2 types of classes:
1) Italian Curricular Classes fully integrated in the local council primary Scottish schools curriculum to promote Italian language and culture in local community:
18 curricular classes in Glasgow in 2025-26 in 2 local public primary schools: (Hillhead Primary School, St Patrick Primary School) with overall about 480 students being exposed to Italian language and culture.
2) Italian Extra-Curriculum classes (11 classes + 2 online) with over 130 children on Saturday mornings. These classes range from P1 primary school children to students of secondary school education preparing for their Scottish official national qualification exams of Italian as foreign language. Additional value of these classes is that they create a point of aggregation and reference for the Italian community in Scotland and also an "open door" for Scottish people interested in the Italian language and culture:
5 extra-curricular classes in Glasgow
8 extra-curricular classes in Edinburgh
1 extra-curricular classes in Aberdeen
1 extra-curricular classes online
FINANCE Acknowledgements and THANKS:
We are the only Italian school in Scotland and Northern Ireland officially recognised as “ente-gestore”, with the substantial help of funding from Italy's Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale (MAECI) and with our own internal funding we have delivered all the above officially approved activities to their completion.
We would like to thank all collaborating partners, and thank MAECI for the financial proposed funding of 15341 euro for Curriculum Classes and 34345 euro for Extra-Curriculum classes that in conjunction of internal Girotondo funding allowed the two projects to run to their completions with the gratitude of all the local schools and participating families.
The funding is due to arrive over 2025/2026 in three "tranches": 40% in the November 2025, 40% in spring 2026 and the remaining 20% will be received after the official financial control after the end of the projects. Original funding have been cut by 18% for "Curriculum classes" ("Initiativa-1") and 20.5% for "Extra-Curriculum classes" ("Initiativa-2").
