Islanders Girls Basketball

Mission Statement

Grand Island Senior High Girls Basketball aims to make young girls prepared on the court, in the classroom, at home, and in life. The vision is to create and foster……

What does it mean to find your best?

Players are encouraged to participate in multiple sports.  This will add to their overall high school experience and will help them continue to build skills that will help them be successful.  Participating in Islander Power, with Coach Pat Doyle, is strongly encouraged, as being stronger, faster, and more explosive will make you a better athlete.

"You are who you are when no one is watching."

Team Rules and Expectations:

Academics

Islander girls basketball players are expected to be "finding her best" in the classroom

What does this mean?

Being prepared. behavior focused on the now. grades not trying to "Get by" trying her best.

Our players are students first and athletes second.  Random grade checks will be assessed before and during the season.

Any student-athlete with a “D” or lower may be required to sit out of practices and games until that grade is raised. They will not be allowed to practice with 3 D's. The program goal is to have them be "bosses" someday. Do the best bosses you know have poor grades? Poor grades lead to ineffective leadership. And if our goal is to be at our best we will in every aspect.
