Welcome to Module 4.
For many of us, Google Sheets feels like a giant wall of numbers and confusing formulas. But what if you didn’t have to remember a single formula ever again? In this module, we’re going to show you how Gemini can act as your personal data scientist. You’ll learn how to build entire trackers from scratch just by asking, how to write complex formulas in plain English, and how to turn a messy list of data into a clean, professional table in seconds.
Lesson 1: Your Own Assistant
The Goal: No more starting from a blank grid.
The Skill: Use Gemini to build the structure for you. Whether you need a student behavior tracker, a project timeline, or a sign-up sheet for parent-teacher conferences, you just describe it, and Gemini builds the columns and headers for you.
Lesson 2: Formulas in Plain English
The Goal: Never Google "how to write a VLOOKUP" again.
The Skill: Tell Gemini what you want to calculate (e.g., "Calculate the average of column B but only if column C says 'Complete'"), and it will write the exact formula for you to paste into the cell.
Lesson 3: Instant Data Cleanup
The Goal: Save hours of manual typing.
The Skill: Learn how Gemini spots patterns. If you are cleaning up a list of student names or emails, Gemini can recognize what you’re trying to do and offer to fill in the rest of the column for you automatically.
Turn In Your Work: Module 4
Start a New Sheet: Open a brand new Google Sheet.
Ask Gemini to Build: Use Gemini (at gemini.google.com) or the side panel if you have it. Type: "Create a table for a classroom library tracker. Include columns for Book Title, Author, Category, and a Checkbox for 'Is it Checked Out?'"
Take a Screenshot: Snap a picture of the table Gemini created for you.
