Welcome to Module 3. We’ve all been there: staring at a blinking cursor, trying to find the right words for a parent newsletter, a new lesson plan, or a grant proposal. In this module, we’re going to turn Google Docs into your personal drafting partner. You’ll learn how to use Gemini to go from a blank page to a finished draft in seconds, adjust the tone of your writing, and even "re-level" a text to make it easier for your students to read.

The Skill: Use Gemini to take a draft and change the tone. You'll learn to make a professional email sound "more friendly" or take a casual set of notes and turn them into a "formal report."

Instant Differentiation (Re-Leveling Text)

The Goal: Making content accessible for all students.
The Skill: This is the "Magic Trick" for teachers. Take a complex article or a high-level reading passage and ask Gemini to "Rewrite this for a 3rd-grade reading level" or "Simplify these instructions for a student with limited English proficiency."

To finish this module, you’re going to show that you can use Gemini to transform a simple idea into a finished piece of writing.

The Assignment

Open a New Doc: Start a fresh Google Doc.
Generate a Draft: Use the "Help me write" feature (or copy/paste a prompt into the Gemini tab at gemini.google.com) to create a Classroom Newsletter for next week.
The "Re-Level" Challenge: Take one paragraph from that newsletter and ask Gemini to "Rewrite this paragraph so it is extremely simple for a 1st grader to understand."
Take a Screenshot: Snap a picture of both versions (the original and the simplified version) on your screen.
