Mrs. Woods grew up in the Shenandoah Valley and currently resides in Pearisburg, VA. She is an alumna of James Madison University, the University of Virginia, and George Washington University where she studied English education, reading, and administration respectively. Mrs. Woods has 21 years of experience in education. She loves learning and teaching others about the science of reading and is excited to be at the forefront of Giles County's Literacy Initiative. In her spare time, Mrs. Woods enjoys helping her husband out on the family farm, playing with her three children, reading, sewing, and rooting for the Hoos!

Gary Crosier is the Reading Specialist at Narrows Elementary School. As a lifelong educator, he has many years of experience, including teaching primarily in second through fourth grades. Mr. Crosier has also enjoyed working with students through Title 1, as well as many summer and after school programs throughout his career. He is a graduate of Concord University with a Bachelor of Science in K-8 Multi-Subject Education. Additionally, he holds a Master of Arts Degree in Reading {Reading Specialist) from Marshall University. Mr. Crosier became a Reading Specialist to help struggling students overcome reading difficulties and to share the love of reading with others. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his three adult children and their families. Traveling, hiking, spending time outdoors, and of course, reading are also some of his favorite hobbies. Mr. Crosier has two grandchildren that he enjoys choosing reading materials for as well as reading with them. He hopes they will grow up to love reading as much as he does.

Mrs. Evans has taught Title I, 3rd grade, and Kindergarten in her 22 years in education. Her entire teaching career has been spent in the same elementary school she attended as a child. Mrs. Evans is a graduate from Radford University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She is currently attending Radford University to pursue a master’s degree in Literacy Education. She is very passionate about helping students achieve their full potential and learn to believe in themselves and their abilities. She enjoys reading a good book and spending time outdoors with her family.

Mrs. Ross graduated from Radford University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She has sixteen years of classroom teaching experience in kindergarten, third, and fourth grade. Currently, Mrs. Ross is enrolled in the Master’s program at Radford University for Literacy Education with an anticipated graduation date of May 2025. Mrs. Ross returned to school because she wanted to help her students unlock their knowledge of the world through reading. If Mrs. Ross has any spare time, she enjoys going for a run, growing vegetables and flowers in her garden, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Mrs. Ramos-McCall is a Giles County native who currently resides outside of Pembroke with her family. She is an alumna of Giles High School, New River Community College, Radford University, and Bluefield College where she received her Master’s of Art in Education. Mrs. Ramos-McCall’s passion for education and the power of literacy led her to become a teacher and now drives her current work as a reading interventionist and as a student in the Master’s of Literacy Education program at Radford University. She loves reading, shopping for craft supplies, and family cookouts, and looks forward to her work as the Middle School Reading Interventionist in Giles County Public Schools.

Mrs. Sargent is in her 24th year of teaching. She lives in Pearisburg and attended Radford University. Mrs. Sargent's favorite book is To Kill A Mockingbird, favorite movie is A Christmas Story, and favorite music is 80s music. When she's not at school, Mrs. Sargent enjoys crafts, painting, and reading. Mrs. Sargent's favorite part about teaching reading is the thrill in her students when they read for the first time. She feels it is a magical experience for them, and they are so excited about being able to read. Mrs. Sargent loves celebrating this milestone together, marking the beginning of her students' reading journey.

Mrs. Ellis' favorite book is Charlotte's Web, favorite movie is The Proposal, and favorite music is Contemporary Christian. When she's not at school, Mrs. Ellis enjoys walking, reading, and cheering on the Green Waves and the Steelers. Mrs. Ellis' favorite part about teaching reading is seeing the expressions on children’s faces as they realize they could read the passage or book!

Dr. Donahue is in her 33rd year of teaching. She lives in Ripplemead and attended Marshall University, the University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech for both undergraduate and graduate studies. Dr. Donahue's favorite books are The Color Purple and A Kindergarten Story, favorite movie is Shawshank Redemption, and favorite music is country and classic rock. When she's not at school, Dr. Donahue enjoys writing, interior decorating, vintage/antique shopping, and cooking . Dr. Donahue's favorite part about teaching reading is seeing the confidence and greater self-esteem that becoming a better reader inspires. She also love to teach children the power that literacy (reading and writing) provides them.

Mrs. Wall's favorite book is The Green Mile by Stephen King, favorite movie is Forrest Gump, and favorite music is Classic Rock. When she's not at school, Mrs. Wall enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and rooting for the Hokies. Mrs. Wall's favorite part about teaching reading is watching children learn, grow and become stronger readers.

When she's not at school, Mrs. Jones enjoys reading, baking, sewing, and chauffeuring her 2 daughters around to their activities. Mrs. Jones' favorite part about teaching reading is seeing kids who think they "can't read" finally realizing they can with just a little extra help and practice.
