Core Vocabulary Words - Stop/Go, I, Want
SPICE 1:
A new thing that we will be working on this year is the use of core vocabulary. For students with devices, most of these words can be found on the very first page (their home page). These are words that are commonly used and can help children obtain their wants and needs more easily. For students who are verbal, these are still extremely important and high frequency words that they will use often. The calendar highlights a new word each week. Each week will come with ways that you, the parent, can model the word of the week. There will also be ways in which you can practice at home, as well as books and songs you can listen to. Practicing the words at home will be vital in your child's ability to generalize. Even two days per week of practice will lead to stronger generalization skills. Please look at the calendar below to see which words we will be working on in the month of August.
SPICE 2:
This month we will be working on expected and unexpected behaviors. We will be going over what our expectations are during our speech and language sessions. We will also introduce Matt and Molly, interactive social skills notebooks, and Incredible Flexible You.
