TOWN OF GILBERT
If assigned to the Town of Gilbert program please call (480) 635-7703 as soon as possible to enroll. The classes are held at the Town of Gilbert Police Department located at: 55 East Civic Center Dr. Gilbert, Arizona 85296. You will need to call them within two weeks of the program being assigned. When you call you will have to leave a voicemail. They may take a few days to return the call, but as long as you have left a voicemail, they will not close your student as non-compliant. Once this program is completed, they will send our office the certificate of completion. Click here for more information on the Town of Gilbert program.
If your student is assigned an intervention program by the courts, this may be used in place of the program our office assigned. You will need to provide us with a certificate of completion for that class. The courts DO NOT send anything to our office.
Many times, you are given the option to do community service or private counseling in place of the Town of Gilbert program. If you will be doing this, please give us a call so we can make a note of this. If your student is receiving counseling services then we would just need documentation from the counselor (signed by them on their letterhead), that they received such services. This document does not need to detail any specifics other than: that they are currently being seen, how often, and the approximate number of hours for these sessions. This letter will allow me to mark them as compliant with our office.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Community service hours may be assigned to a student as part of their meeting decision. We will send you a log sheet that should be returned to our office once completed. They can complete this assignment at any non-profit Charity/Organization. A few ideas for community service include:
Goodwill (must be over 16 yrs old)- call your local Goodwill
Churches, soup kitchens, food banks, etc.
Feed My Starving Children (must go with a parent)- fmsc.org
Community Service Resources (pdf) – additional ideas for completing those hours.
Per GPS Policies and Regulations, only a suspension for more than ten days or a recommendation for expulsion may be appealed. Therefore, orders such as reassignment, community service, behavior plans, or other interventions may not be appealed.
