Sports Med I is the introductory class in which the year is spent learning medical terminology, musculoskeletal anatomy, mechanism of injuries, signs/symptoms of injuries and appropriate treatment for athletic injuries. The class is intended to give an overall introduction into medicine and how it applies to the body. Great exposure that allows students to get a better idea on what medical field they want to get into/if at all.

Sports Med II is an advanced material class with the opportunity to be taken for dual enrollment through Chandler-Gilbert CC for an extremely low cost. Class is worth 3 college credits (if desired).
SM2 is more of a hands on labratory class in which we take the information from 1st year and we apply it to the body. Students learn how to tape/physically assess athletic injuries/develop physical therapy rehabilitation, etc. Some of the classroom topics covered are insurance, liability, budget development, training room design, etc.

Sports Med III is on off campus internship opportunity. Students that are in the last quarter of SM2 will submit an application/interview for a chance to participate in SM3. The availability varies from year to year as does the available medical facilities that are made available to us. On average, we have 10-12 medical offices to partner with. So far, we have been able to partner with Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, OrthoArizona, ASMC, Spooner PT, Diamondback PT, and many more. The students will be assigned on a 3-4 week block where they will go to a specific medical facility for a period of 2-4 hours and be able to observe how that particular location conducts it business. It provides an invaluable experience for each student to get access to real medical practitioners and see what goes on in the exam room as well as behind the scenes. Some students have been offered jobs from their time spent in SM3.
