The Campo Verde Sports Medicine is a unique program that it provides several ways for high school students to get "real world" experience in the medical profession.
One facet of the program is the sports medicine curriculum provided during the school day. The first 2 years are classroom-based with instruction on medical terminology, anatomy, orthopedic injuries, treatment, and physical rehabilitation. The third year is an internship where the students go off campus to various medical facilities and private practices to observe real world medicine for the entire school year.
The second part of the program is the after school student aide program. This is an application process where any CV student can apply to become a "student aide" which entails working with all of Campo's 21 interscholastic providing medical care under the direct supervision of Mr. Matt Blackburn and other staff certified athletic trainers (ATC). This is strictly an after school program in which every hour that a student works goes towards accumulated community service hours that are documented on their academic transcript.
