My name is Colleen Harvey. I will be your child’s Library teacher. This will be my 20th year at Augusta Ranch Elementary. I am very excited to work with your student.
I was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and raised in Evansville, Indiana. I graduated from Purdue University in 1996 with a degree in Communications. I worked at TV stations in South Bend, Indiana and Dallas, Texas before deciding to stay at home and raise my family when we moved to Arizona in 2001. All three of my kids attended Augusta Ranch, and when my youngest started 1st grade, I joined them as the Media Assistant. My many years working with all the amazing teachers here at Augusta Ranch are the main reason I pursued an Elementary Teaching and Media Specialist certification. I have taught 2nd and 3rd grade and I am very exited to be back in the library.
Reading is my passion and the importance of a school library can not be over emphasized. The school library plays a great role in the life of students by serving as the house of knowledge, and I am the guide. I love sharing amazing authors and stories with students. I hope my enthusiasm will inspire and develop the important habit of reading among my students.
This is going to be a great year! Go Rattlers!
