Thank you for taking the time to visit my website! I feel very privileged to serve the Gilbert Middle School students and families as the school counselor. This will be my first year as the school counselor but not my first year in the district. =) Prior to this position I taught instrumental music (in a variety of grade levels) for 17 years at Gilbert. Before I came to Gilbert, I taught fifth grade instrumental music and middle school choir for three years at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn CSD. I was first introduced to the world of school counseling when I worked in the high school as the high school guidance secretary (while still teaching instrumental music). I enjoyed my time in the counseling office so much that I decided to pursue my masters degree in school counseling. I graduated from Creighton University in 2019 with a Masters of Science in School Counseling and Preventative Mental Health.
I love being part of the Gilbert school district, and my family is part of the district as well. My husband, Aaron, teaches seventh grade math along with coaching cross country and track. My daughter, Anna, will be a sixth grader at the middle school this year, and my son Garrett with be a second grader at Gilbert Elementary.
If I have not yet already met you in person, I'd love for you to reach out to me to introduce yourself at thomasj@gilbertcsd.org. Thank you for letting me be a part of your child's middle school journey. Go Tigers!
