12-13 FEBRUARY 2026
FINAL MEETING
The final meeting of the GIFTED project was held in Palermo, providing a valuable opportunity to discuss the project’s future perspectives and the potential evolution and strengthening of scientific collaboration in this field.
14-18 SEPTEMBER 2025
FEMS EUROMAT 2025
On the occasion of the FEMS EUROMAT 2025 international conference, the contribution entitled “Process Parameters Optimization for L-PBF of a NiTi Alloy: A Combined Analytical and Experimental Investigation”, developed within the framework of the GIFTED project, was presented.
Additional results were reported, focusing on the printing trials and on the correlation between process parameters and the as-built conditions across multiple parameter combinations.
29 AUGUST 2025
Global Consortium on Advanced Manufacturing of Functional Materials
On the occasion of the Consortium Seminar – Advanced Manufacturing of Functional Materials (AMFM), following the opening remarks, the progress of the GIFTED project was presented, with a focus on: innovations in additive manufacturing and sintering techniques; advanced material characterization and performance enhancement; and application developments in actuators, sensors, and elastocaloric cooling systems.
11-13 SEPTEMBER 2024
40° Convegno Nazionale AIM
On the occasion of the 40th National Conference of the Italian Association of Metallurgy, the contribution entitled “Experimental and Analytical Study of the Printing Conditions of a NiTi Alloy Produced by SLM Technique”, developed within the framework of the GIFTED project, was presented.
The first results of the analytical and experimental investigations conducted on the initial NiTi-SLM samples were reported.
4-7 SEPTEMBER 2024
53° AIAS CONFERENCE
Some of the research outcomes of the GIFTED project were presented at the 53rd National AIAS Conference, held at the prestigious Federico II Congress Center in Naples. The paper entitled “Design of Additive Manufactured Nitinol Endovascular Devices” was included in the Biomechanics 2 session, dedicated to the memory of the late Prof. Eugenio Guglielmino.
The presentation addressed the state-of-the-art analysis of stents and NiTi additive manufacturing. Applications of trabecular structures (metamaterials) fabricated in NiTi via AM were illustrated, with the aim of optimizing performance, ensuring printability, and fully exploiting the potential of current technology. The authors of the paper represent all the partner universities involved in the project.
28 MARCH 2024
First in-person meeting of the GIFTED project working group in Reggio Emilia. Work continues on the design of NiTi stents, aiming to leverage additive manufacturing as a functional technique to enhance device performance.
