SUCCESS, ACCESS, AND SUPPORT DOMAIN
(I) Tenet - Educational Opportunities and Access
This tenet - Each student has access to effective, comprehensive, and continuous learning opportunities that prepare them for ongoing school success, postsecondary education, and career goals.
Our focus of school improvement for the past 5 years has been working on priority standards, proficiency scales, pacing guides and assessments. Jan Hoegh started our efforts in the Fall of 2018. The process started with determining 8-10 priority standards in each of our classes. We then followed a template to unpack the standards, develop our pacing guides, and create our learning targets. Moving on to assessments, we ensured that the assessment is assessing the skills on the proficiency scale. The work we are doing is preparing us for standards referenced reporting.

(III) Tenet - Positive Partnerships, Relationships, and Success
This tenet - Schools and districts implement best practices in student, family, and community engagement to enhance experiences and opportunities that are culturally inclusive and relevant for each student. Student success and engagement relies on positive partnerships and relationships to fundamentally improve the outcomes for each student, school district and community.
Gibbon Public Schools strengths are positive partnerships and relationships to ensure each and every student succeeds. The district provides many opportunities for family engagement throughout the school year. The district hosts an annual Buffalo Stampede at the beginning of each school year for families to learn more about aspects of school and how to help their students be successful. Gibbon holds many opportunities for family engagement such as orientations, parent-teacher conferences, elementary family nights, and key communicator meetings. Along with engaging families, the district partners with the local community for support. Community partnerships with the public library, fire department, sheriff's department, and local business have allowed GPS to expand learning opportunities outside of the building.
