When you write your JoAnne Moore sentence today, make sure you start your sentence with the word Dogs. Don't forget to add details into your sentence and WOW us!

For phonics today please read each sentence first. After reading go back and circle the blends that you see (sk, st, pl, sw, br,...) then go through and circle the suffixes (endings like ed, s, er,...).

Please make sure you answer the Comprehension Check questions with a complete sentence that makes sense and neat printing! (Ex. Dad got the bug out of mom's mug.)

Today is the first day of a Fill in the Blank story. Read the words in the Word Bank first. Then read each sentence filling in the blank with the words from the bank. Remember to ask yourself "Does it make sense?"

For phonics today please read through the short story. After reading it through, go back and circle all the short vowel sounds you hear in the words (dog, dig, run, pet). I would suggest choosing a different colour marker for each short vowel sound and circling the sounds you find in the story with the colour to match. This will make recording the words easier at the end.

Today you will be writing a middle and end to a story about turtles. Make sure that you add details and make your sentences interesting. Please send me a picture of your finished sentences.

When you write your JoAnne Moore sentence today, make sure you start your sentence with the word Kids. Don't forget to add details into your sentence and WOW us!

Today's phonics will show you that "au" and "aw" make the same sound. The two letters stick together to make one sound instead of two separate sounds.

For today's phonics you will need to unscramble the words to make a sentence that makes sense. Use the clues. The uppercase letter is the first word of the sentence and the period is the last word of the sentence.

Today's comprehension activity is new. Read the story and cut out the puzzle pieces. Arrange the pictures in the correct order and retell what happened in the story.

Try starting your Writing Wizards sentences in different ways. Don't always start with the word "I" or "The".

Remember to use different colours to circle the double letters on today's Phonic's sheet. This will make it easier to record the words on the lines.

For the "All About Spring" journal entry tell us about the things you can see, smell, hear, taste and feel in the spring time.

Add the suffix (ending) -s to each word to make it plural. Remember that when we are talking about more than one we need to add the ending -s to our words.

Write how you would spend the day with your dog (real or pretend). Think about what you would do at the beginning of the day, middle of the day and end of the day. You could even write on a separate sheet of paper so you have space to add more details into your story. Don't forget to use your neatest printing!

On your Joanne Moore sheet today you will learn that when there is a "Y" at the end of a word it can make the "i" or the "ee" sound. For example in the word "funny" the "Y" says "ee" but in the word "cry" the "Y" says "i". You could do a word hunt in a book to find more words that belong to each group.

Week 8: May 18th - May 22nd

Today you will read words with "ee". Click HERE to see what other letters can travel together to make the same sound.

The letters "au" and "aw" both make the same sound when travelling together. HERE is a video to help you to remember this rule.
