FOR STUDENTS IN YEARS 9 - 13
In the Senior Section, students are tasked with entering their images into a category. This year we have 5 categories - Life In motion, Connection, Place, Altered and Special Objects.
LIFE IN MOTION
Life in Motion is about just that - a freeze frame from a moment of motion in time. This category is for capturing movement and emotion - you could take us onstage, backstage or to rehearsals, to the sportsfield, big waves or skate park.
CONNECTION
My community, my people, my whakapapa, my life connecting with others. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so tell us a story of connection. This could be portraiture or documentary style shooting - anything where people or animals are the feature.
PLACE
In the Place category, we want you to transport us somewhere with your image.
Where in the world is completely up to you - whether lush nature, quiet starry nights, bustling city streets or somewhere we’ve never seen. Use your technical skills, composition or editing choices to make your Place stand out.
SPECIAL OBJECT
Your special objects could be simple, sentimental, quirkily unique or mundane. Tell a story through a created composition of still life. Subtle or jarring, ordinary or extraordinary, make deliberate choices with what you are capturing to tell your story.
ALTERED
Choose an original photograph as your base, let your creativity run wild and present an altered image. Layer, collage, edit, chop, draw or reinvent your image. We want to see you show off your skills with tech and post-production editing to create something seriously cool, weird, editorial or buzzy.
