About Mrs. Baker

Here's a link to a 6-minute introduction of myself and U.S. and World History:

Missi Baker has worked in East Los Angeles, Northern Idaho, the Olympic Peninsula and now Kent, WA. She has been a school teacher since 1987.

As a teenager in Breckenridge, CO, she enjoyed soccer, skiing and hiking. She did okay in school, but there was room for improvement! Before going back to get her teaching certificate, Mrs. Baker was a journalist.

She had graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO, with a BA majoring in journalism and minoring in economics, and then worked for about a year on a small weekly newspaper as a reporter/photographer

Her next four years were spent working in the public relations department of a large relief and development organization in southern California: World Vision. She produced the organization's employee newspaper, and researched information for fund raisers.

In her free time now she loves to read, knit, scrapbook, kayak, go bird watching. In the summer of 2011, Mrs. Baker won first place in Hunter's Challenge at the International Bowhunters Traditional World Championship in Tennessee. She placed second in the regular IBO Championship, in the female long bow class. Her interests now include knitting andbirding, primarily in the Northwest.

When Mrs. Baker's first son was entering kindergarten, she began teaching to get back to her first loves, the English language and history; reading, writing, and sharing what she knows about history, language and literature with students. Baker is credentialed to teach 4th to 12th grade with endorsements in English, Social Studies, Journalism, Economics and Online Teaching. Recently she began studying for her Master's Degree in History.
