A planning guide by Get Out! Events.
A hybrid career fair brings in-person and remote participation into one recruitment programme. Candidates might walk the booths on campus while others join employer talks and one-to-one conversations online. Recruiters might be on site, remote or both.
The buying challenge is not simply finding a video tool or an event website. Universities and employers need an operating model that connects candidate registration, employer profiles, sessions, conversations, lead capture and follow-up, without ending up with two disconnected fairs running side by side.
University and polytechnic career offices.
Institutes of higher learning running campus hiring programmes.
Graduate recruitment teams and employer groups.
Event owners organising a common fair for several institutions or employers.
Hybrid is not automatically better. It asks more of everyone: two sets of joining instructions, two support channels and recruiters who must be comfortable switching between a booth and a screen.
It adds value when remote access serves a defined audience, such as candidates on overseas exchange, recruiters based in another country or students who cannot travel to campus. If everyone will be on site, a focused physical fair with strong lead capture may be simpler and more effective. Establish the reason for hybrid first.
Operating Model maps the journeys before, during and after the fair. Platform Choice covers scope and selection criteria for a career fair platform. Responsibilities explains who owns what and the questions to ask suppliers.
Get Out! Events scopes and coordinates hybrid fairs through its GO Labs team; see its hybrid career fair platform page for an overview.
